    Description

    This listing is for a very old, elegant baby sleeping gown.  Known as Victorian Whites, this nightie was made in the 1900's.  I purchased several pieces from a family friend who was getting ready to have an estate sale.  He told me these were some pieces found in his grandparents' home.  They had their children christened in gowns that will stay in the family, these were not family heirlooms.  This piece has embroidered scalloping around the arms and neck.  There is embroidery and open work on the chest.  There is pin tucking on the front and back of the shoulders.  The sleeves also have the embroidery and open work. In addition, there are oval 'holes' on the sleeves and back.  The purpose of these is to weave ribbon through to close the nightie and decorate the sleeves.  It is a very nice piece. It is in mint condition with no holes, rips or stains.
